Accountability is a Four Letter Word

     When I was in high school I read a book entitled "Fahrenheit 451," a futuristic cautionary tale in which firemen actually started fires. This week I was reminded of that great novel as I read and heard the news of the massive toxic spill perpetrated by the Environmental Protection Agency in Colorado. The spill, which released millions of gallons of toxic heavy metals into the Animas river, will potentially have a damaging effect on the eco-systems stretching into New Mexico.
     It is odd that I do not hear the same rhetoric in this ecological disaster caused by a government agency, as was being spewed from the Obama administration during the BP/deep Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico a few years ago. There is no talk of "keeping a boot on the throat" of the responsible party, or a phalanx of government lawyers being sent to the scene by the Department of Justice. There is no talk of compensation for the victims of the spill, or talk of the innocent wildlife being put at risk by the actions and callousness of those responsible.
     One of those responsible whose name has barely been mentioned, if at all, is Sean McGrath. Mr. McGrath was an Obama White House politico who was bestowed with a regional directorship in the Environmental Protection Agency. Mr. McGrath, like most of the Obama administration, has no real environmental experience or education (beyond being a congregant of the global warming church), but was placed in charge of the region now threatened by his own agency.
     This incident should be educative of the utter futility of the kind of top-down, centralized government model being advocated by those on the Left. It is illustrative of the need for state and local control of such issues instead of a distant bureaucracy in Washington. It is as well exemplary of the counter-productivity of political hacks being appointed, not for their skill and knowledge in a particular discipline or area of expertise, but because of their political favorability with the president. To the extent that an agency like the Environmental Protection Agency is needed, it should be formed and populated by the people of the states, and not used as some kind of political ATM to payoff loyal subjects of an imperial president.
     Of course this unconstitutional empowering of the bureaucratic state to make law through an out-of-control regulatory structure pre-dates the Obama administration. And the tyrannical nature of the Environmental Protection Agency was evident from its beginnings when its director banned the chemical DDT based not on the reams of scientific data, but a book called "Silent Spring" written by environmental fanatic, Rachel Carson. The recent spill, and the closed-mouth explanation by those responsible, i.e. the Environmental Protection Agency, is just another example of the arrogance of government where authority is placed in the hands of the incompetent but politically connected, and accountability is a four letter word banned from the DNA of the bureaucratic state.
    
    

Renaming Earth Day

     Today is "Earth Day," the time when arrogant Leftists try to spread their delusional thinking that the planet somehow needs them to survive, instead of the other way around, to as many unsuspecting persons as possible. They don their hemp clothing, fill their cloth shopping bags with "natural" snacks and bottled water, then head to their local celebration. The object of "Earth Day" is to make the attendees feel a twisted sense of superiority over those who do not attend, because the non-attendees obviously do not care about "Mother Earth" as much as those who slip on some disgusting sandals, tie-dye tee shirts, put their children into a cloth wagon, and stumble to the altar of human arrogance and hubris like some envirozombies.
     "Earth Day"  should be renamed "Brutally murder your girlfriend and stuff her lifeless body into a trunk---day," because that is exactly what the founder of Earth Day, Ira Einhorn, did to Holly Maddux. Ira fled the country, and with financial support from the Hollywood Left, managed to escape justice for 25 years. The Ira Einhorn story is educative of the total moral void that exists among the Left. Because on the Left, it does not matter what sort of heinous crime you commit, as long as you recycle, all your sins are forgiven.
     The church of Leftism requires of its members no strict moral code or adherence to a set of principles or values, only belief in their manufactured crises and sacraments of death. Not only the death of unwanted children, but the death of common sense, natural law, reason, and probity. The modern day environmental cult is exemplary of my preceding statement insomuch as it is not based on any science, but on politics and ideology.
      I do not know, maybe old Ira was trying to help "Mother Earth" by keeping the population to a minimum, starting with eliminating his girlfriend. And maybe those Hollywood elites that supported him on the lamb all those years he was living it up in Europe, thought that the life of one girl was insignificant compared to the continued freedom of the creator of "Earth Day." And maybe all those envirozombies that make their pilgrimage each year to "Earth Day" celebrations around the country are as ignorant of Ira's crime as they are of the lack of any scientific evidence to support their faith. Let others do as they may, I am going to "celebrate" Earth Day by going to work and thanking God, the creator of the earth, for his blessing of the resources and beauty he has bestowed upon us on every day.   
        

The Continuing Adventures Of EPA Oppression

     There is hardly an American over the age of twenty one and in possession of cognitive abilities who does not realize that the bureaucracy known as the Environmental Protection Agency has outgrown the bounds of decent regulatory authority. The latest oppressive measure to be reined down upon business and residents alike is the draconian regulations on lighting. Of course we are all familiar with the EPA's tyrannical decision to outlaw incandescent light bulbs, in use for well over 100 years, and force Americans to use the mercury-laced compact fluorescent bulbs instead.
     The latest light bulb oppression from the EPA has reared its ugly head in the manufacture and sale of the tube fluorescent bulbs that are available in a variety of sizes. These bulbs are designated by the industry as T12, which the EPA has determined have too much rare earth minerals in their composition. Beginning in July of 2014, the T12 bulbs will no longer be legal to manufacture and sell. This means their replacement, the T8 bulb, must have new fixtures in which to be installed. This regulation, past not by Congress but by the Obamacrats in the EPA, will affect millions of businesses that have T12 fixtures in their offices and manufacturing facilities.
     This new edict from on high, along with previous regulations on light bulbs, will force 97% of all light bulb manufacturing to take place overseas, mainly in China. This will of course facilitate more jobs vacating the sinking ship of the Obama economy. This new wolf of oppression dressed up in the sheep's clothing of environmental concern will be another impediment to growth for American businesses. Having to expend the funds to replace T12 fixtures joins the nails of the worst economy since the 1930s Great Depression and ObamaCare, to affix the lid tightly on the coffin of prosperity in America.  
     The founders of this great nation did not trust government to make very many decisions, hence the severely limiting nature of the Constitution with regards to the federal authority. They would be shocked and dismayed that we have vested so much power in unelected bureaucrats. The power to oppress business and individuals alike, all in the name of the environment of which the Left, in their foolish arrogance, have appointed themselves protectors, is anathema to the founding principles of this country. It is this soft tyranny that grows into full blown oppression that the framers of the constitution were trying to avoid when they drafted the greatest document of freedom the world has ever seen. A document that the current occupant of the White House has betrayed in words and actions, thus violating his oath and disgracing the office entrusted to him by the citizens of this great nation.
