I Don't Want A Pickle, I Just Want To Write My Encyclical

     Pope Francis has created quite a stir recently with his encyclicals, first with last year's that blamed capitalism for all the ills in the world, and now with his most recent one in which he promulgates the hoax of man-made global warming. Pope Francis' encyclical is evidentiary of his desire to build a store house of earthly treasures gained from political correctness, instead of building up spiritual treasures in heaven.
     When Jesus laid the cornerstone of His church on the shoulders of the apostle Peter, whom he called "The Rock," he transformed Peter from a valuable disciple into the first in a long line of successors to Christ here on earth. Jesus did not charge Peter with saving the planet, but with saving the souls who resided on the planet. He, and all who came after him, were to keep the fires of Christ's message, the new covenant between God and His people, burning brightly.
     Many Pope's of the past have failed in the simple but not easy task given to them by Jesus 2000 years ago. Their failures have always been rooted in their earthly desires to win treasures on earth, whether those treasures were comprised of gold or the approval of their fellow man. Pope Francis seems to be following in the footsteps of some of his predecessors who allowed the politics of man to subjugate the word of God.
     Francis appears to have picked up the mantra proffered by many on the Left for years that the Church must "change with the times." But God's laws are eternal, which means they are based in the logic of universal law and the immutable nature of God himself. There is no "changing" the laws of gravity, or the laws of morality which rule the moral and immoral the same. But Pope Francis seems to think he can pick and choose the attributes of his mission set down those many centuries ago by Jesus Christ himself.
     I was born and raised Catholic and attended 12 years of Catholic school. I have been horrified with the ease with which many Catholics have accepted abortion by voting for leaders who not only allow it, but wish to extend and expand it. My sense of moral outrage has been stoked by members of the clergy leading their flocks away from the one true God of the bible towards the false god of radical environmentalism. And my spiritual sensibilities have been tested by a Pope who so flagrantly and blatantly has replaced his mission of spreading God's word and providing spiritual leadership to his flock by encouraging individual growth, with being a bullhorn for big government around the world.
      

The Coming Ice Age....Again!

     I have maintained from the beginning of this Ebola "crisis" that it was hyped in an effort by those on the Left to spend money we do not have, and expand government into areas of freedom that have previously been undiscovered by government. Beyond the fact that the Left is in love with huge, unwieldy government bureaucracies and limited individual Liberty, is that their last "crisis", i.e. global warming/man-made climate change, has been recently shown to be a bust.
     Do not get me wrong, they have been successful at inculcating in the naïve and the younger generation for the need to keep spending an estimated 22 billion dollars of taxpayer money every year to "fight" a non-existent environmental Armageddon. But global warming devotees are becoming increasingly tougher to recruit in this time of global cooling.
     It appears the only warming that has occurred, especially over the last 18 years, has been that of the fevers generated in the rabid believers of the climate change religion. In fact, according to NASA, the earth has only warmed 0.36 degrees in the last 35 years, most of which happened from 1979 to 1998. Since the late 1990s the earth has actually cooled. As has the general acceptance of this specious science and its mandate in the minds of Americans that we must spend gobs of money and restrict a plethora of freedoms to fight it. In addition to federal government outlays of tax money, it is estimated that the global warming hysteria costs individual and corporate Americans 1.75 trillion dollars in added costs every year due to climate regulations.
     With the cooling of the earth in the last 18 years, and the recent satellite study by NASA that showed the polar ice cap has actually increased by 43% (Remember Al Gore saying the entire ice cap would melt away and cause a rise in sea levels by now?), I fully expect the Left to turn 180 degrees on a dime and begin to proffer the notion that we are in danger of a new ice age, as they did back in the 1970s.
     Even though the general population has become wise to the Lefts environmental subterfuge, they now have in place the ability to suck up tens of billions of dollars a year to fund efforts to "fight" non-existent calamities. That is why government should never be placed in control of something as unlimited as the environment. In so doing we have given them unlimited power and have shattered the Founders notion of enumerated federal authority.

Global Warming: The Lefts Biggest Dichotomy

     No political ideology, religious belief, or general ethos has a structure more supported by the timbers of dichotomy than Leftism. And no belief of the Leftist church is more illustrative of the preceding statement than man-made climate change. Never has there been such a large group of devotees whose object of devotion is the very definition of "much to do about nothing," as those who worship the idolatry of man's dominion over the climate, and the big government Leviathan that is employed by these global warming votarients to "solve" this non-existent danger to the earth.
     Several recent studies, one by the government's own National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), have postulated that any warming of the earth in the last hundred years has been the result of changes in wind patterns, and not man-made causes like sport utility vehicles. These findings, along with data that shows a substantial increase in CO2 admissions (which the global warming apostles say is the main cause of the planet's warming) in the last twenty years, while global temperatures have remained flat, shows the complete fantasy of the "science."
     The global warming dichotomy is fueled by those who promulgate the idea that the same citizenry that can not be trusted to posses a firearm can undoubtedly save the planet. That a population that should not be held accountable for bad public behavior can be responsible for the warming of the earth. And the masses who are incapable of feeding, clothing, housing, and generally supporting themselves can heal a world scarred by man's progress.
     The response of those who believe in the thoroughly discredited faith of global warming to new data they can not dispute, is to create yet another sacrament of their religion called "the pause." This is the term that Al Gore and his super-heated disciples have given to the last twenty year period when there has been no warming, even though twenty years ago they said twenty years hence there would be so much warming that no polar ice caps would remain by now. Just for the record, polar ice has actually grown by 43% over the last twenty years.
     Global warming is congruous with the other extremists on the Left like extreme feminism, extreme equality, extreme environmentalism, extreme immigration, etc. It is not so much about the core issue, but about destroying capitalism and free markets. And if you do not think this is true, look at the signs present at the next Leftist protest and you will see and hear how evil capitalism caused the issue against which they are protesting. And the solution to any problem on the Left always involves some mitigation of the free market that built this great country.
     Those trying to use global warming to destroy capitalism under the guise of "saving" the planet have engaged in one of the Lefts biggest dichotomies. Never has there been so much evidence against a thing, and still there are so many persons clinging to it like those who clung to the notion that the earth is flat long after it was proven to be round. That has always been the danger of the Left, i.e., the desire to believe that which has been proven wrong over time and with the overwhelming weight of blatant evidence staring them in the face.

Global Warming Cooling

      First there were the emails between "scientists" at England's East Anglia University in their Hadley Institute on Climate, showing collusion to ignore and hide data that disproved man-made global warming. Then there was the bombshell release of computer code for the weather models used as the main source of proof for global warming, which had the desired results pre-programmed into the models. Now Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, has stated that there is no evidence to support the concept of man-made global warming. He also said the purveyors of such politically motivated nonsense use scare tactics and pseudo-science to push their agenda.
     Any fool can look at the unusual, but not record-breaking cold, some of the country has endured this Winter, and realize that global warming is the biggest hoax perpetrated on man since, well since ever. The gig is up for the global warming crowd, but yet they still insist on trying to convince the gullible that somehow everything weather related is the result of global warming. The worrisome part is that government is now filled with global warming devotees whose aim it is to enact legislation designed to redistribute wealth and add to the ill-gotten gains of climate hucksters like Al Gore.
     The real issue of logic that defenders of global warming have a hard time answering is one of data. None of their dire predictions of the last 30 years about the effects of global warming have come true. Even if their belief in global warming was based on data, records on climate only include the last hundred years or so. With the earth being billions of years old, 100 years of data is hardly representative. And the data we do have disproves man-made climate change, since most extreme shifts in climate occurred before industrialization, which is currently being blamed for the non-existent shift in the modern climate.
     Actually, in the last 15 years or so there has been no appreciable change in global temperatures, even according to data from the Church of Man-Made Climate Change. Things have gotten so desperate for the global warming folks that they are saying that no change over the last 15 years is proof of man-made climate change. But global warming is illustrative of the Lefts manufactured crisis for the purpose of growing government control in the lives of individuals. It is sold to the American public on the basis of emotion. They convince people that the planet is suffering from man's presence and that the individual has the power to "save" the earth.
     The public is beginning to wake up to the fraud of man-made climate change. With more prominent scientists like Patrick Moore sounding the alarm bell of reason that those promoting global warming are more dangerous than any effects they claim the phony crisis may have on our world, the truth is slowly turning the Al Gorians into history's biggest clowns. But what has caused the cooling of global warming more than anything else, is the cold hand of reality slapping the chapped faces of those who have had to shovel many feet of global warming from their driveways this Winter.
    

The Hopelessy Stuck Akademik Shokalsky Symbol Of Climate Change Religion

     On November 28, 2013 the Russian ship Akademik Shokalsky set out from New Zealand to recreate the 1911-1913 journey of Australian explorer, Douglas Mawson. Mawson's was the first such exploration of Antarctica, and the 52 researchers and 22 crew aboard the Akademik Shokalsky were recreating his icy journey, of course on a modern ship with all the advantages of the twenty first century. Unfortunately the re-creators became hopelessly stuck in the Antarctica ice on Christmas eve and rescuers have been unsuccessful in their attempts to reach the ill-fated ship.
     What makes this story especially delicious is that in addition to their recreation of Mawson's journey, the researchers aboard the Akademik Shokalsky wanted to gather data in support of the hoax known as man made climate change. They were hoping, as all true believers of the global warming religion hope, to find evidence of their faith somewhere, anywhere, that the globe was warming and ice was melting, causing a rise in sea levels and other cataclysmic outcomes for human beings. Unfortunately for the researchers aboard the Akademik Shokalsky, they became bound, and unable to move, in what appears to be thousands of tons of global warming. The ice is so ubiquitous and dominant in the Antarctica waters, that three ice breaker ships have been unable to free the research vessel.
     This very public spectacle is illustrative of the Lefts unyielding devotion not only to their agenda, but the fantasies which comprise it. Already there has been the beginnings of talk from those on the Left, and especially those belonging to the global warming cult, that the Akademik Shokalsky's icy predicament is a result of, not a despoliation of, the theory of man-made climate change. This lunacy is exemplary of the Lefts inability to recognize facts and truth when they contradict the agenda they aim to impose on their fellow human beings for the sake of giving their own lives some meaning, i.e., they are "saving the planet."
     The ice-bound Akademik Shokalsky should stand with the volumes of other evidence to dispel the backward thinking of those who place fiction over fact and superstition over science. But I would not expect the blinded devotees of global warming to come to their senses anytime soon, after all they are some of the same persons that believe government can effectively manage the health care of over 300 million Americans. The hopelessly stuck research ship is a fitting symbol for the Left, who are hopelessly stuck in the ice jam of their own agenda-driven "science," which is exposed as more of a fraud with each passing year that their dire predictions are so spectacularly proven wrong.
    

Faith-Based Environmentalism

     I am a Conservative, which means I believe in conserving not only the principles of liberty and freedom as outlined in the founding documents of this country, but I also believe in growing prosperity in a way that responsibly respects our resources and the environment. I also believe that science should be a relentless pursuit of the truth, no matter where that truth may lead. These are not beliefs shared by the modern environmental movement. Their goal is to redistribute wealth and destroy capitalism.
     The whole concept of man-made global warming is a religion that requires more faith than do other religions. This is because there is more evidence of the existence of God, than there is of man-made global warming. That is why recently the name of the movement has been changed from global warming to climate change. In this way, no matter what natural course the climate may follow, the anti-capitalists can use it to implement their redistributive policies. The change in the movement's name was also necessitated by the fact that since 1998 the globe has not warmed, and none of the dire predictions of environmental Armageddon that were made by people like Al Gore 20 years ago have come to fruition.
     At the very core of my argument is the fact that there have been times in the earth's history when the climate has been much warmer than it is now. This well known scientific fact did not lead to man's extinction. These periods were long before human industrialization and some were even before human existence. A case in point is Greenland, which today is covered by ice and snow most of the year. But it got its name because during the time of the Vikings it was fertile farm land that was green most of the year. And there are other examples, the famed ice caps that the anti-capitalist environmentalists like to point out are melting, are prime among them. Science informs us that prior to several million years ago, the ice caps did not even exist. How did the world continue to exist and thrive without the ice caps?
     Anyone who doubts the thesis of this post has only to consider Al Gore's statement of a dozen years ago when he said the time for debate on the subject was past, and the tenets of his faith were to be believed or else. The "or else" is public ridicule, learned men and women losing their jobs in academia and elsewhere, and public policy being implemented based on spurious scientific data. Even a religious zealot will debate the merits of his faith, but Mr. Gore and others have traveled far beyond the outer reaches of even the space occupied by zealots.
     The global warming/climate change subterfuge is beginning to be seen for the hoax that it is by an ever more informed public. As Al Gore and his gang of foil hat followers have been exposed as the frauds that they are, an ever increasing band of real scientists have been abandoning the hysteria of climate change in favor of the truth. The manufactured crisis of climate change is illustrative of the fact that the Left needs an uninformed public to advance their agenda. As the general population becomes more informed on a subject, the Lefts position begins to deteriorate like a rotting apple in the heat of the Summer sun. This is one of the core differences between Leftists and Conservatives, i.e., where the Left thrives on spreading ignorance and fleeing from the truth, the Right embraces more knowledge and information being possessed by the common man.
     On issue after issue, the Left tries to preserve the fragility of their ideological positions by encouraging, and in some cases legislating, ignorance. And when they are successful, liberty is diminished. I think it was Thomas Jefferson who once wrote that a nation can posses liberty or ignorance, but not both. Let us hope for the sake of this nation's liberty that the ignorance of man-made global warming continues to be destroyed by knowledge and truth.
    

Duplicitous Green

     Let me begin by saying that I am not in favor of deliberately or unnecessarily polluting the planet on which we live. I am also not in favor of manufactured solutions to artificial problems, like global warming, becoming public policy. I do not use "green" products because, very frankly, I have not found one that performs its function as well as its "non-green" equivalent. I believe that when it comes to protecting the environment, there are no better methods than those that come from conservative thought. I am the ultimate recycler, the majority of my furniture consisting of re-purposed items being a testament to that fact.
     The "green" lobby that petitions politicians on behalf of the green industrial complex is duplicitous in both its thinking and actions. Energy efficient refrigerators are exemplary of this condition. Sure your energy efficient ice box will save you $100 a year on energy costs, but having only a third of the life span of pre-energy efficient refrigerators, it will end up costing you much more than that old box. And it is not only the individuals additional costs in replacing the energy efficient refrigerator, but the extra energy it uses to manufacture, sell, and deliver the new box. And these efforts must be engaged three times as often as with refrigerators of the past.
     Recycling newspapers may seem at first glance to be saving trees, and in so doing, saving the planet. But when one adds in the costs, both in real dollars and energy expressed in BTUs, of collecting, transporting, and processing all those old newspapers, it really does not make sense from an environmental standpoint. And the fact that there are more trees in the continental United States now than at anytime in the last 200 years, means it is a resource that does not need saving. The timber industry over the last 70 years has done an excellent job of replanting more than what they harvest.
     Electric cars, which receive their recharging from electricity provided by coal-burning plants, are not winning any awards for energy efficiency. Beyond the range problems, expense, and inconvenience of electric cars, is their enormous contribution to environmental pollution through the mining of the minerals necessary for their batteries. Not only that, but the United States is trading being dependent on Middle East sources for oil, for being dependent on South American sources for lithium that make electric car batteries work.
     The supporters of compact fluorescent light bulbs defend their use of mercury by saying the reduced amount of energy they use reduces the mercury being spewed into the air by the coal-fired electric plants. But like much of what the Left uses to sell their oppression, the preceding argument is based on theory and speculation tied in a nice neat package of static analysis. There is no on-to-one relationship between a single bulb and the amount of mercury put in the atmosphere by the power plant that illuminates it. Therefore, using a compact fluorescent bulb that requires less electricity is not going to reduce the amount of time the plant must run to fulfill all energy needs demanded of it. Those plants will still be operating 24/7, 365 days a year. No amount of light bulb tyranny by Leftists is going to change that fact.
     The duplicitous nature of the modern "green" movement does not help advance the cause of conservation or individual liberty. Its goal, like that of every other Leftist movement, is to destroy or severely hamper capitalism and the free market. Leftists, like the "greenies," are unable to function in a competitive, free, and results-driven system and attempt to use environmentalism to impede and subjugate those who can.
    

The Support For Global Warming Dwindles Along With Its Scinetific Evidence

     The religiosity of the global warming political movement has been known for sometime by skeptics such as myself. It has only been the last few years, when all the dire predictions made by the purveyors of the global warming hoax have not materialized, that the general population has become weary of the proselytizing by people like Al Gore. Recently, at a conference where the former Vice President and climate change scam artist spoke, he claimed that "There should be a political price paid by anyone who denies man-made climate change."
     The former Vice President and current snake oil salesman, Mr. Gore, exemplifies the unwillingness of those of the Left to allow free speech when it conflicts with their agenda. Especially when that free speech is made substantive with facts and data. The truth of the matter is that none of the cataclysmic outcomes from global warming made by Al Gore and his band of pseudo-scientists and politicians for the last 30 years, have even come close to being brought to fruition. In fact, their own data shows that there has been no warming in the last 15 years. But the fact that there is no proof, they say, is proof of man-made climate change. Their "global warming" scam has so badly blown up in their face that they have had to re-brand it to "climate change."
     In addition to no warming of the planet taking place the last 15 years, and none of the dire predictions  rearing their ugly heads, there was the embarrassment of the Hadley Climate Research Institute at the University of East Anglia. This "research" center is one of the main feeder organizations for climate change "science" that is distributed to climate change cults throughout the world. A few years ago it was discovered that Hadley "scientists" shared emails that clearly showed a collusion to ignore any data that might disprove their previous conclusions about the horrors of man-made global warming. Additionally it was discovered that the computer models used to give evidence to the global warming argument were rigged. The data was hard-coded into the programming for the models so that no other result would be possible.
     Poor old Al Gore, he is screaming just as hysterically, but fewer and fewer people are listening. The cold, hard hand of reality has gently revealed to most Americans the complete clown-like persona of the former VP and the absolute vacuous nature of his cause. I expect in the coming years, as more and more people become aware of the biggest con ever to be perpetrated in the history of cons, Mr. Gore and his dwindling minions will be relegated to the very margins of society. We may even hear, at some time in the future, about a group of wild-eyed crazies, lead by a former Vice President of the United States, waiting in an open field for the mother ship to rescue them from a planet with a fever.  

The Statism Of The New Environmentalism

     The modern-day environmental movement has replaced individual behavior with collective policies which are aimed at redistributing wealth and consolidating power. Prior to Richard Nixon establishing the Environmental Protection Agency on December 2, 1970, environmentalism was the responsibility of each individual citizen. And after forty years of growing more powerful and drifting further from its original charter, the EPA has infiltrated aspects of American life that would make the most ardent statist proud. Its budget has swelled to over 8 billion dollars a year, and growing, all for the purpose of controlling the use of private lands and creating an environment that is hostile to business and Capitalism.
     The Environmental Protection Agency is not only anathema to the founding principles of limited government, but it is the very essence of the arrogance of big government. The idea that government should spend 8 billion taxpayer dollars a year to make thousands of regulations that restrict personal freedom, is an idea, the thought of which would make the Founders lose their minds. From the very first "success" of the EPA, the banning of DDT, it was clear that their agenda was to stifle Capitalism and not to protect the environment. As is the case with every other left-wing initiative, the environment was the ruse used to lull the American people, while the statists' real goal was political power funded by taxpayer money without accountability.
     A Federal judge took months to pour over the study done on DDT by multiple scientists and made the determination that it was completely safe for humans. William D. Ruckelshaus, the first director of the EPA, without studying any data or reading a word of any scientific reports, decided to ban DDT. The world community quickly followed suit, and because of it malaria, which was all but eliminated by DDT, now kills thousands of people every year. Other mosquito-borne diseases that were made almost non-existent by DDT, are also on the rise. The recent resurgence of bed bugs is also directly attributable to the banning of DDT. All this human suffering caused by statists at the EPA who are so arrogant as to think that they are the chosen few who have been endowed with the ability to "protect" everyone and everything from the evils of Capitalism.
     And what about that individual responsibility for the environment? In my opinion, people are less individually responsible because they choose big government solutions to individual efforts. I recently saw a young mother tell her screaming child that the juice box he had dropped on the ground was too dirty to handle. She then got into her car with a "Save The Planet-Live Green" bumper sticker on it and drove away. This is the attitude that the left has inculcated in so many people in this country, that their ultimate responsibility is to empower government to solve problems ostensibly created by the evils of Capitalism. Oh yeah, and you also have to festoon your automobile with  politically correct bumper stickers, and then you'll be a caring, compassionate citizen of the world.

The Self Esteem of Global Warming

     I have been fascinated in recent years by the global denial of fact and common sense as it relates to the climate change religion. The fact that none of the predictions from the climate change "experts" over the last 20 years have materialized, doesn't stop these anti-Capitalists from trying to destroy perfectly good economies. Even the exposure as frauds of the "scientists" at England's Hadley Center for Climate Prediction and Research, doesn't slow down the desire of world leftists to redistribute wealth using oppressive global government. I thought for sure it was the end of this fraudulent "science" known as climate change, when emails were released from Hadley showing the "scientists" deliberately ignored data that refuted the man-made global warming argument. But the world media, along with all the institutions of the left, ignored the scandal. Just as they did when the code for the computer program which created the models upon which the entire man-made climate change argument is based, showed that the desired results were hard coded so as not to allow any other results.
     I was perplexed by the willingness of otherwise intelligent people to buy into such a thoroughly discredited fraud. Until I realized that support for man-made climate change is linked to another leftist sacrament, the self-esteem movement. What better way is there to make irrelevant people feel good about their lives than to convince them they are saving the planet? Think of the delusion of grandeur inculcated in a generation of people that instructs them that they are more powerful than God. Never mind the fact that even if the planet is warming in some unnatural way, the climate change pushers solutions would have little affect on reversing the trend, according their own research.
     If one looks at the history of our planet, it becomes obvious that climate change is a natural part of its cycles. Greenland used to be farmed by the Vikings, and is now covered by ice. A million years ago there weren't any polar ice caps, and now "climatologists" point to their supposed melting as a sign of some man-made Armageddon. The planet has existed through many cooling and warming spells greater than anything the climate change pushers claim is happening today. And these other climate change events in our planet's past have all occurred before industrialization or the invention of SUVs. These facts are known by the world leftists, whose aim it is to use these natural earth cycles to convince the people of an impending Armageddon, and thereby sacrifice their liberty at the alter of big government. Much like the Egyptian Pharaohs used eclipses to convince the simpletons of their day that they had godly influence over the earth.
     It is hard to counter manufactured self-esteem, especially when it is derived from an individuals perception that they can control the climate, much like a god. And the superiority they feel over their fellow citizens, who they have been taught are analogous to flat-earthers, is more intoxicating than any opiate known to man. It is the self-esteem of Global Warming, and in the absence of real science, it has created the mechanism of our real destruction as a result of ignorance.
